Devin Michael Spence, 23, of Westminster died tragically Monday, February 11, 2013 as the result of an automobile accident.
Born June 25, 1989 in Towson, MD, he was the son of Michael and Marjorie Sunderlin Spence.
He was a 2007 graduate of Winters Mill High School where he was an active member and group leader his senior year of the Best Buddies program. His senior year he also accompanied the Winters Mill lacrosse team to their first state championship where they won first place.
He graduated with a teaching degree from Towson University and was a math teacher at Manchester Valley High School where he was very committed to his students and was recently involved in the schools ski club and was the assistant coach of the Varsity girl’s lacrosse team.
He enjoyed poker, lacrosse, basketball, fantasy football, the outdoors, weight lifting with his brother Travis and playing his home made cornhole set at family cookouts. He traveled to the Dominican Republic with Young Life to help provide clean drinking water to the village. He was also a very strong supporter of the Special Olympics and anything involving special education in honor of his brother Chase.
He is survived by parents Michael and Marjorie Spence, Brothers Travis and Chase Spence, and Sister Aubrey Spence all of Westminster, and numerous aunts and uncles.
A public Memorial service will be held at Manchester Valley High School auditorium on Saturday at 1:00 p.m. with Rev. Dave Schafer officiating. The family will receive friends immediately following the service at the school.
There will be a private interment at St. Benjamin’s (Kriders) Lutheran Church Cemetery. Arrangements handled by Pritts Funeral Home & Chapel 412 Washington Rd., Westminster.
